Restoration Tips: Waikato Planting Guides

As we move into autumn and winter the planting season approaches.  There is a wealth of information on the Department of Conservation website about planting in the Waikato Region.

There are guides for the following areas of the Waikato Region:

·         Lower Waikato River

·         Lower Waipa River

·         Hamilton Basin

·         Horsham Downs Peat Lakes

·         Lake Rotokauri

·         Kahikatea remnants

·         Meremere Basin

·         Western Waikato between the Waikato River and the Tasman Sea

·         Raglan Coast

·         Eastern Waikato from Taupiri to Mangatangi

Ecosourced Waikato (a group representing plant growers, the Department of Conservation and local and regional authorities) has developed native plant lists for different habitat types in the Waikato District. Wayne Bennett of Forest Flora provided considerable input to the guides.
