The Forum is co-ordinated by Moira Cursey who manages the Forum projects in liaison with a Focus Group.
Biodiversity Advice Waikato which is the key advisory service provided by the Forum is managed by Jan Hoverd who is the key contact for this service.
The Focus Group meets together on a bi-monthly to advance the projects of the Forum. The Focus group has a broad membership with present representatives drawn from the following groups:- Department of Conservation, Environment Waikato, University of Waikato-Centre for Biodiversity and Ecology Research, Landcare Research Ltd., Waikato District Council (as a representative for district councils), QEII National Trust, New Zealand Landcare Trust, Forest and Bird, Waikato Federated Farmers, Hamilton City Council,an environmental consultant and finally a representative from the Advisory Committee for Regional Environment. Other management agencies such as, Maori Trust Boards act in an advisory role to the Focus group.
The Focus Group assists the Forum to:
Facilitate information transfer
Promote co-ordinated biological diversity policy development
Promote synergies between participants
Energise the topic by supporting existing and promoting new on-the-ground actions.
