The Advocates for the Tongariro River are a community group made up of people passionate about the river. Our aim is to speak out for the Tongariro River and promote ways to look after the river so that it is here for all to enjoy in the years to come.

Mount Karioi Restoration Project

Our committed team has been working to restore biodiversity together with the amazing support of our local community. The focus of the Karioi Project encompasses Karioi and its coastal escarpments and forest, wetlands, freshwater and marine habitats and communities to the north and south of the mountain from Whāingaroa Harbour to Aotea Harbour.

National Wetland Trust

The National Wetland Trust (NWT) – is a non­profit organisation established in 1999 to increase the appreciation of wetlands and their values by all New Zealanders. We are planning a Wetland Discovery Centre at Rotopiko/Lake Serpentine where visitors can learn about wetlands and experience their special qualities.

Nature Space

Nature Space is a collaborative project that grew out of Restoration Day, an annual Wellington event that started in 1995. The website is designed to support community restoration efforts and provide a one-stop-shop to access information and resources. The development of the site was driven by community groups who identified that they wanted one website where they could source and share information in a simple easy format, as well as keep up to date with current conservation information and best practice.

New Zealand Biodiversity

The word biodiversity is short for ‘biological diversity’ and simply means the variety of life on earth.
This variety includes all plants, animals and micro-organisms, the genes they contain and the ecosystems they form. The term is often used to measure the richness of life based on its variety and inter-connectedness.

New Zealand Plant Conservation Network

National Institute of Water and Atmospheric Research

Ornithological Society

Birds New Zealand is committed to the study of birds and their habitat use within New Zealand through encouraging members and organising projects and schemes. Activities are organised at both the national and regional level, with 20 regions providing a local network for members to engage in bird studies.

People, Cities and Nature

You’ll find us in the Town Hall in Raglan’s main street. We have a range of information is displayed on local environmental issues. We promote environmentally sustainable practices in our community. We deliver environmental education programmes, workshops and raise awareness about environmental issues.
